Dimitar Berbatov: Five Possible Transfer Deadline Day Destinations

0 of 6

Dimitar Berbatov has been tipped to leave Old Trafford ever since his apparent falling out with Sir Alex Ferguson during and after his failure to even appear on the bench for Manchester United's 2011 UEFA Champions League Final match against Barcelona.

The 2010-11 Barclay's English Premier League Golden Boot winner looked to be on his way out of Old Trafford early in the summer.

Despite Sir Alex Ferguson having squashed the rumors of the Bulgarian's departure, it still remains a hot transfer topic.

Danny Welbeck's rise to prominence in the face of both Dimitar Berbatov and Javier Hernandez has many questioning where the 30-year-old actually fits in.

Michael Owen and Federico Macheda are also on the attacking fringes with United, which leaves Berbatov left wanting for first-team action.

He may or may not be on the move, but if something happens in the final few days, here is a list of five possible destinations where the 20-goal scorer could be headed as the transfer window is quickly reaching its final days.

Sevilla FC

Speculation that Dimitar Berbatov move to the southern Spanish club Sevilla FC started circulating in late April.

The club's poor attacking in the recent season and the departure of Luis Fabiano back to South America leaves the club short on frontmen that are tenured, proven goal scorers.

Paris Saint-Germain

Sir Alex reportedly has held off former Inter Milan manager and current Paris Saint-Germain chief football director Leonardo, as the Brazilian has attempted to bring Dimitar Berbatov to Paris.

It could still be on the cards as PSG have the financial backing to still make a last-minute bid.

Inter Milan

Inter Milan's Massimo Moratti is in need of a new frontman after the sale of Samuel Eto'o. Both Dimitar Berbatov and Liverpool's Dirk Kuyt have been linked with a move to Milan.

However, the Bulgarian looks more a possibility than the Dutchman to make a switch to northern Italy.

Tottenham Hotspur

Reports in June suggested that the Bulgarian international could be set to make a return to London with Tottenham Hotspur, where he started his EPL career.

Harry Redknapp sold the player for £30 million two seasons ago but could get him for a cut-cost return of around £10 million.

With such a need for goal scorers at Spurs, he might have to dig into his pockets and re-sign Berbatov or make other arrangements to fill the void.

Manchester United

In all likelihood, Berbatov is going nowhere until at least January.

Until Sir Alex Ferguson knows that Chicharito and young Danny Welbeck are completely prepared to handle the burden up front, he will be holding onto his 30-year-old fourth-choice attacker.

Conclusion

Dimitar Simply still has too much of a part to play for United, and I just do not see Sir Alex parting with him this window unless it is simply an offer he cannot refuse.
